NORWICH – The Norwich Pumpkin Festival is almost here, and once again this year, you can look forward to a pumpkin baking contest, sponsored by Pro-Tel and the Soup and Sandwich Group of the Broad Street Methodist Church.
This year, the competition will include five categories: cakes and cheesecakes, cookies and bars, breads and muffins, pies and puddings, and the teenage category. Anyone who is 17 years old or younger can bake a dish from any category to be entered in the teen category. Each entry must include pumpkin, in some form, as the main ingredient.
To enter, bring your baked goods to the baking contest tent, located in the north-west corner of East Park, between 8 and 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 28. All entries must be accompanied by a 3x5 index card containing the complete recipe and the name, telephone number and address of the baker.
