Libous secures grants for Chenango fire departments' flood efforts

BAINBRIDGE – Sen. Tom Libous (R-C, Binghamton) announced Wednesday that he has secured $150,000 in senate funds for Chenango County fire departments that were affected by this summer’s unprecedented floods. The senator made the announcement last night to more than 50 volunteer fire personnel at the Bainbridge Fire Station on West Main Street.



“Our communities have never seen anything like the devastating flooding in June,” Libous said. “Volunteer firefighters worked for days on end without rest and bravely risked their lives against the raging water to help families stay safe. These funds will help them replace some of the thousands of dollars worth of equipment that the lost so the continue their courageous work.”

The following departments will receive $25,000 Senate Grants each: Afton Fire Department, Bainbridge Fire Department, Greene Fire Department, Mt. Upton Fire Department, Norwich Fire Department and Oxford Fire Department.
