EDITOR’S NOTE: The Bricks & Mortar Report will provide updates every Monday on major construction projects in Chenango County.

County Route 32 project:

• Most of the heavy work has been completed. Engineer Larry Shaw said Friday there were two days left of excavation and gravel on 32B (over the bridge) as well as slope work at the north end intersection.

• Workers will trim trees, top soil and seed residents lawns as well as complete driveway restorations before the paving begins.



Housing Starts:

• There were 14 housing starts in the month of April. One each in the towns of Aston, Smithville, Pharsalia and Norwich. There were two each in Oxford and Smyrna and three each in Guilford and Sherburne.

Lowe’s Home Improvement center:

Target date is set for mid-October. Town of Norwich Supervisor David C. Law said everything is running smoothly and as scheduled. He said he has also heard that there are inquiries for four other stores to be filled in the Lowe’s plaza.

Miller Street Housing project:

Irmin A. Mody said the development of three townhouse buildings, containing two homes each, are underway and looking positive.
