Marie H. Bain Taylor, 81, of Edmeston, passed away Friday July 12, 2019 at Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Norwich.
Marie was born on December 8, 1937 in Cooperstown, NY the daughter of the late William and Annie Marie (McVeery) Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Lee Allen Bain on May 2, 1977.
Marie was a lifetime resident of the New Berlin and Edmeston area. She married Allen Joseph Bain on February 14, 1954, and was employed with Mold-i-Matic in Oneonta for several years before making a career change to nursing. While a nurse, she was employed with Chase Nursing Home in New Berlin, and Quality Care in Fly Creek as a home care nurse.
Marie enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, sewing, and her gardens. She was especially proud of her flower and vegetable gardens. She taught her children to live off the land, canning venison, packing her root cellar full, and raising pigs and chickens for the family farm.
She is survived by her children Terry Marie (Don Palka) Bain, Prudence Annie Johnson, and Christine (Steve) Chase, her grandchildren Karen Marie Smith, Janet Marie Thomas, Nathan Allan Tippet, and Ronald Roy Tippet, her great grandchildren Dillon Hunter Dodge, Caleb Aiden Thomas, and Raven Elizabeth Tippet. She is also survived by siblings Walter Rogers, Edna Tarbox, and William “Howard” Ward, along with many nieces nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday July 16, 2019 at Delker and Terry Funeral Home 30 South Street Edmeston, NY. Funeral services will be Wednesday July 17, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Andy Johnson of the Edmeston Second Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Edmeston Union Cemetery.
