Sherburne Library Summer Reading Program Begins This Week

Sherburne Library Summer Reading Program begins this week The Sherburne Public Library began their 2022 summer reading program, Oceans of Possibilities, on Wednesday, June 29. SHERBURNE — The Sherburne Public Library Summer Reading Program 2022: Oceans of Possibilities kicks off on Wednesday, June 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Gaines Park, next to the library.

If you were not able to make it to the kick-off, there’s still time to register. Please stop by the library to register, pick up a “swag bag” and all the info to participate.

Here is the list of events. We are also hoping to add a couple of adult events, TBA. All events will take place in Gaines Park on the east side of the library. Rain location is the United Church of Christ, on the west side of the library.

Week One:
Tuesday, July 5: Teens - Jelly Fish Lantern, 4 p.m.
Wednesday, July 6: Utica Zoomobile, 1 p.m.
Thursday, July 7: All Ages Story Time - Turtles, 10:30 a.m.

Week Two:
Tuesday, July 12: Teens - Ocean Trivia, 4 p.m. 
Wednesday, July 13: Suzanne Bloom, 1 p.m.
Thursday, July 14: All Ages Story Time - Home in a Shell? 10:30 a.m.

Week Three:
Tuesday, July 19: Teens - Bermuda Triangle Escape Room, 4 p.m.
Thursday, July 21: All Ages Story Time - Sharks! 10:30 a.m.
Friday, July 22: Green Golly Project - “A Different Kind of Dragon," 1 p.m.

Week Four:
Tuesday, July 26: Teens - Ocean Art Therapy, 4 p.m.
Wednesday, July 27: Didgeridoo Down Under - “Oceanography Down Under," 1 p.m.
Thursday, July 28: All Ages Story Time - Great Tentacles! 10:30 a.m.

Children’s Theater Group for Grades 2 through 4 will meet twice a week the last three weeks of July from 1 to 2 p.m.: Thursday, July 14; Friday, July 15; Wednesday, July 20; Thursday, July 21; Thursday, July 28; and Friday, July 29. You will need to pre-register to participate.

Tuesday August 2nd: Awards Party from 5 to 6 p.m.

This program is made possible with public funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program with the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Earlville Opera House. This program is also generously supported by Stewart’s Shops and Walmart.

Tuesday mornings are Coffee Tuesdays at the Sherburne Public Library. Each Tuesday the library is providing the space and the coffee — and a few treats — upstairs in front of the fireplace between 10 a.m. to noon. This is an unstructured gathering available to anyone who wishes to stop by and enjoy some company and/or conversation. We hope you’ll stop by!

The new entrance doors have been installed, but they are not quite ready to be used. We are very close! We thank you for your continued patience. Please continue to use our front stairs and book drop. We will notify everyone when the new doors and the new book drop are ready to be used.

Please continue to use our front stairs and the book drop at the bottom of the stairs until further notice. Do not hesitate to ask for assistance on them. Our open hours remain Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.


Masks are optional in our library.
