OXFORD – The Oxford American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) of Fort Hill Post #376 is preparing for a benefit Valentine’s Take-Out Dinner.

The Scalloped Potatoes with Ham dinner will be on Friday, February 11, from 4 to 6 p.m., take-outs only. Community members are invited to enjoy a delicious, family-pleasing meal and support this good cause.

Apart from curling up in a down blanket, there’s no better way to combat a bitterly cold winter evening than eating hot comfort food.

On Feb. 11th, don’t cook, let members of Unit 376 do all the work. Come and get delicious Scalloped Potatoes with Ham, a casserole of sliced potatoes baked in a cream sauce with ham. The meat and potatoes entrée includes buttered green beans, roll and a sweet Valentine’s dessert to eat at home. Choose from homemade Valentine’s cookies or a Chocolate Lovers Brownie to cap off the take-out meal. $8 per dinner.

Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary. The Oxford ALA is involved with Empire Girls’ State, promoting child literacy, and helping with Christmas Community “baskets”. They even have their own student scholarship! Their Memorial Poppy collections benefit veterans, they help the NYS Veterans' Home at Oxford, and more. It is all accomplished with volunteers.

The historic Fort Hill Post #376 is located at 17 S. Washington Avenue. For inquiries, contact ALA president, Louise Spicer, at (607) 843-9495 / email: Oxford107@Frontier.com; or call the American Legion at (607) 843-8166.
