OXFORD — The Church Women United of Oxford (CWU) has set up their Mitten Tree at Hoppie’s Restaurant in Oxford for the holiday season. Community members can donate homemade or store bought hats, mittens, and gloves by hanging them on the tree until Friday, December 3. New toys and books are also accepted, and may be placed under the tree.

CWU is made up of representatives from four Oxford churches: Saint Joseph’s, Saint Paul’s, United Methodist, and the United Church of Oxford. As a group, the churches focus on serving their community.

“We do a lot of stuff,” said CWU Secretary Treasurer Cathy Rood. “Community service, exactly. That’s all we do. It’s just the churches coming together to serve the community, and, you know, we try to feed people and get them things they need.”
