Greene Announces Its Top Three Students For Class Of 2020

Greene announces its top three students for class of 2020 Valedictorian Amy Bentley, Salutatorian Gabrielle Nowalk,, and Superintendent’s Award recipient Valerie Stracquadanio.

GREENE – Greene Central School recently announced its Valedictorian, Salutatorian and Superintendent’s Award recipients for the Class of 2020. Amy Bentley is Valedictorian, Gabrielle Nowalk, Salutatorian, and Valerie Stracquadanio is the Superintendent’s Award recipient.

Amy Bentley, Valedictorian

Amy Bentley, the daughter of Cherie and Stephen Bentley, is the Valedictorian. She has enjoyed participating in Odyssey of the Mind (fourth place in state competition), swim team (Captain), Footlights (10 shows), chorus (Vice President and Secretary), Gender-Sexuality Alliance (President), Academic Challenge (President), band, National Honor Society (Secretary), and Interact Club. In addition, she has been active in the community and her church, including the choir.

In the fall, she will attend the Honors College at SUNY University at Buffalo as an undeclared major, but plans to explore her interests in psychology, Spanish, environmental studies, neuroscience, linguistics, and writing.

Gabrielle Nowalk, Salutatorian

Gabrielle Marie Nowalk, daughter of Tammie Robertson and James Nowalk, is the Salutatorian. Over the past four years at Greene High School, she has devoted countless hours to both her education and extracurricular activities. She has been the president of the High School Concert Band for the last two years and has also been involved in Jazz Band, Marching Band, Footlights, Select Chorus, National Honor Society, and Odyssey of the Mind.

Outside of school, she is a member of the SUNY Broome Wind Ensemble, Binghamton Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Norwich City Band.

In the fall, she will be continuing her education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she will pursue a major in Mathematics.

Valerie Stracquadanio

Valerie Anna Stracquadanio, daughter of Susan and Gary Stracquadanio, is the Superintendent’s Award recipient. Valerie has participated in many extra-curricular clubs and activities throughout her high school career. She has served as Vice President of the Class of 2020 for four years, and has been involved in Student Council, Interact, Footlights, and Yearbook. She is also a member of National Honor Society, forwhich she was Vice President her senior year.

In addition, she served as President of Envirothon, was captain of the Varsity Volleyball team during her junior and senior years, and a student representative for the Greene Community Scholarship Fund.

As well as being the recipient of the Superintendent’s Award, she has received the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award, the Frank G. Paul Medal of Excellence in Math and Science, and Faculty Key Awards for Earth Science, U.S. History, and Anatomy and Physiology. She was also selected to attend Girls’ Leadership Day in 2019, and is a MAC Scholar-Athlete.

In the fall, Valerie will attend SUNY Broome for Individual Studies.
