CORTLAND – With hopes of making it to the Section IV Class C finals, the Greene Trojans were a single game away. Having to go through the top-seeded Senecas of Watkins Glen to get there, the Trojans knew they were going to have their hands full.

Watkins Glen captured an early nine point lead after the first quarter and extended the margin to as many as 15 before the end of the first half. The big lead was enough for the Senecas to hold off Greene’s late game push and the 63-52 win Tuesday night at SUNY Cortland.

Adam Pastore of Watkins Glen paced his team in the 17-point first quarter with eight points. The Senecas continued to build on their lead with seven 3-point field goals in the first half. In the second quarter alone, Watkins Glen had four different players make a shot attempted behind the arc.

After just scoring eight points in the opening stanza, Greene found a little bit of an offensive rhythm behind balanced production from five players.
