OWEGO – The Lady Purple Tornado, Lady Blackhawks and Lady Trojans will see several swimmers head to Watkins Glen High School, eyeing a top eight finish at the Section IV Championship meet Saturday as all had strong performances by the members of each team.

Norwich will see 14 swimmers, 12 swimming in at least two events, take on the rest of the field in either the A or B final Saturday while Greene will have five and Oxford send their lone member, Regan Finnegan, to the finals day.

The top eight seeds are scheduled to swim in the A final of each event while the next eight – nine through 16 – will race in the B final. All of the top 16 swimmers can earn points for their team to have a chance at claiming the team crown in their respective classes.

Finnegan will be seen in the A final in the 200 yard freestyle event, a race she participated in each Norwich meet as an exhibition swimmer. Her times throughout the season seeded her for the preliminary meet Wednesday in Watkins Glen and she registered a time of 2:20.9, setting up a seventh-seed in the finals race.

The Oxford Blackhawk will also swim in the B final for the 100 yard backstroke after a time of 1:16.09 placed her 11th overall out of the Class C/D field. Finnegan is seeded third for the B final race.
