GCS Students Speak To Legion About Boys' State Experience

GREENE – Nolan Butler and Nate Erickson attended a meeting of the Lloyd O. Jackson American Legion Post 692 in Greene to discuss their experiences at Boys' State this summer.

Nolan and Nathan were presented pins and certificates by the Legion for their participation in the annual event, which was held this summer June 27 to July 2 at Morrisville State College.

According to the nylegion.net website, "American Legion Boys' State is a week-long program that immerses high school youth (currently in their junior year) in citizenship and leadership training.

They learn the practical aspects of government as it exists in NYS, and come to recognize that the individual is integral to the character and success of government. They also participate in physical fitness, teamwork and other activities, under the guidance of the American Legion counselors and U.S. Marines."
