GREENE – The host and eighth-seeded Lady Trojans of Greene led by 19 at halftime and were well on their way to a first round win in the Section IV Class C tournament. However, No. 9 Odessa-Montour had different plans as they overcame the large margin with a 24 point fourth quarter to take the 52-44 win Tuesday night.

Despite the good good shooting in the first half by Greene, the lack of defense and the miscues in the fourth were the fall of the Trojans in the fourth quarter according to head coach Dave Gorton.

“We took some bad shots, hurried on offense and turned the ball over too much,” Gorton said. “We just couldn’t get out of our own way in the fourth.”

Leading 33-14 at the break, the Lady Trojans held the visiting Indians to just 14 points in the first two quarters of play. Offensively, Greene shot 11-for-17 inside the arc and three of five from long-range.

McKenna Sergi, the Trojans’ leading scorer from the guard position, led the first half rout with 15 points while teammate Emma Smith tallied nine in the same stretch.

Also giving strong minutes off the bench in the first half were McKenzie Drew and Olivia Kennedy, who combined to score the other nine points put on the score board by Greene in the first half.
