SIDNEY – A late comeback attempt by the Walton Warriors fell short as Greene grabbed their second consecutive Midstate Athletic Conference title, defeating Walton 3-2 Tuesday night at Sidney High School.

Greene scored their first goal of the contest when Spencer Klumpp took the ball down the left side of the field and sent a ball past Warriors goalkeeper Kaiden Vernold.

The Trojans’ goal was the only conceded in the first half.

Walton evened the game at 1-1 with a goal from Brett Charles, who rifled a rebounded shot into the back of the net following a Tracer Howland shot off a Warrior corner kick.

Five minutes is all the tie lasted between the two top teams of the MAC. Greene was awarded a penalty kick that Brad Taft converted with 30 minutes remaining the contest. The Trojans added to their one goal lead when Klumpp recorded his second goal of the game in side the 18 yard box.
