Storm 7th grader finishes runner-up at NYSPHSAA Girls Golf Championship; Shoemaker sets state round record

FARMINGDALE – A few months ago, she was competing on national television in the 12 to 13-year-old division at the Drive, Chip and Putt Challenge at the Augusta National course – the same course the professionals play on for the Masters’ Tournament.

Now, the Unadilla Valley seventh-grader will have her name enshrined in the record books for the 18-hole NYSPHSAA girls golf championship for a long time to come.

Bailey Shoemaker started day two of the NYSPHSAA girls golf championship six spots behind the leader, Melanie Greene from Medina. Shoemaker ended the second-round of the tournament with a 65, seven strokes under par to finish in second place of the state tournament held at Bethpage State Park Yellow Course.
