NEW BERLIN – Opening day, brisk air – and what proved to be a solid game between two Chenango County teams.
Bainbridge-Guilford and Unadilla Valley squared off, with the Bobcats of B-G snagging a 2-0 win on Tuesday, August 29.
“B-G definitely came out hungry in the first half, they were aggressive and winning balls,” said Unadilla Valley Ryan Houck. “It took a while for us to find our footing, which occurred around midway into the second half.”
The savior of the game for the Bobcats was Parker Luca – who took a first half brace to his name, essentially winning the contest off his opportune play in the first MAC league game.
Luca’s first goal was scored 19 minutes into the first half, when his shot ricocheted of Storm defender James Peterson and careened into the net past UV goalie Adam Lamont. Luca repeated his performance with four minutes remaining in the first, executed a give and go with teammate Gavin Farrell and pushing a ball past the Storm.
