CORNING – In a hotly contested game, the Valley Heights girl’s varsity basketball team didn’t have enough in the tank against Corning Christian Academy last Friday, Feb. 3, losing on a final score of 40-31.

It was a case of some tired legs on the side of Valley Heights as their opponents just outlasted them and powered to the finish, outscoring the visitors 18-9 in the fourth quarter to close out a nine-point victory.

Up until that point, the game was back and forth. In the first quarter, the teams traded baskets, with Corning taking the slimmest of leads into the second quarter, leading 8-6.

Corning pulled away at the end of the game, showing off the better stamina, as they clinched the nine-point victory.
