‘The Bread Lady’

MORRIS – Danielle Boudet, owner and operator of Pigtail Alley Bakeshop in Morris, has long been referred to as 'The Bread Lady.' Boudet has been in the baking business for over 10 years.

“I began with cakes and cupcakes (which I still do per special order), but soon began baking bread, simply because I wanted something that couldn't be found around here,” said Boudet.

Boudet explained that her husband is Dutch, and that the couple had lived in the Netherlands for a number of years. “I missed being surrounded by the bread culture there, and the extraordinary breads that one could find just about anywhere. That was my inspiration to learn how to bake bread myself, and over the past years, I've been fine-tuning my own baking to produce a product similar to what I enjoyed over there.”

While she doesn't have her own space yet, Boudet said that friends and family were the ones who convinced her to bring her breads to the public, and they also suggested that she start with local farmer's markets throughout Chenango County.
