New Balance Nationals  freshman long jump

NORWICH – Norwich high school freshman, Eric Conant, debuted his long jump prowess at the 25th annual New Balance Outdoor National Championship this past Friday, June 17.

Conant who had qualified for the national championships in freshman long jump, with his best jump of 19'4”, was hoping to crack into the 20' club at his first ever national appearance.

“I wasn’t consistent on my board. It's hard to say what I need to do better, I think I looked down a couple times,” said Conant. “The pits were good, just my mark was terrible.”

Conant expressed some frustration after the sub-par outing he had on the national stage, however remained optimistic with his goal of 20'.
