Authorities: Man ‘immediately Attacked’ Deputy, Held On $50k Bail

NEW BERLIN – A man sits in the local jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail following an incident that authorities say took place ten days ago.

Jason C. Douglas, 44, New Berlin, faces charges of assault in the second degree, a class D felony; resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor; and menacing in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.

According to authorities with the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, on March 18 at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call for a domestic dispute on Warner Hill Road in the Town of New Berlin.

Authorities said the first arriving officer, Deputy Anthony Lawrence was met at the front door of the residence by the suspect, Douglas.
