AFTON – On Tuesday, Feb. 16 a massive fire destroyed the dairy barn Paul Faigle and family at 104 State Route 41 just outside the village of Afton. While the barn was fully involved in fire when firefighters arrived, firefighters were able to get pigs, donkeys, rabbits, some calves and heifers out, but Faigle and Karen Terpstra lost over 70 dairy cows along with hay and equipment.

Members of the community have been donating feed, hay and support to the family. Small animals were temporarily moved to the Afton Fair Grounds for shelter.

The Afton area community has come together to establish a fund that will assist Paul and Karen while they try to rebuild their livelihood.
