NORWICH – The Norwich Police Department is investigating a report of a suspicious woman who spoke to an 8-year-old boy while he walked on Park Street in the City of Norwich. On Wednesday morning, a Caucasian woman, described as having long hair, was operating a gray or silver colored four-door car on Park Street in the City of Norwich.

Norwich Police said the woman stopped her car and rolled down her window. The 8-year-old boy was on the sidewalk at the time and the woman asked the boy if he needed a ride. When the boy told the woman ‘no’, she offered him a ride again. After the boy told the woman ‘no’ a second time, she drove away. The woman did not have any physical contact with the boy and she never exited her car. The boy told a neighbor about the incident, who then called the Norwich Police. The boy did the right thing by telling the woman ‘no’, not getting into the car and immediately telling an adult, said Norwich Police.

Norwich Police would like to know the identity of this woman and the facts of why she approached the boy. Norwich Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area of Park Street around 7:30am on Wednesday morning, to please contact the Norwich Police Department at (607) 334-2424 or the NPD TIPS Line at (607) 336-TIPS.

The safety of the children in our community is of the utmost importance. We want everyone to be alert, especially with Halloween Trick-or-Treating tomorrow night, said Norwich Police.
