Greene field hockey, soccer win, while Norwich soccer, golf take league losses

GREENE - In their first game of the season the Greene women took on Deposit in a competitive game, capturing the victory 3-0. “It was a good start to the season,” said Head Coach Christine McCabe. “I was really happy with the overal performance of the girls.”

Leading the way for the Greene Trojans was Gina Lobdell. Lobdell had two of the team’s three goals and generated much of the Trojans’ offense. Scoring the remaining goal was Mackenna Sergi and generating one assit was Skylar Gilmore. “Once we got the first game jitters out I think we did really well,” said McCabe. “We didn’t alow any shots on goal and had some really nice stick to stick passes.”

McCabe and her team return to the field next Wednesday, September, 9, when they travel to Walton in an attempt to get their second win of the season.

Individual Statistics: Deposit; goal keeper; 5 saves. Greene; Gina Lobdell, 2 goals. Mackenna Sergi, 1 goal. Skylar Gilmore, 1 assist.
