Theater groups join forces to bring ‘The Music Man’ to the stage this weekend

SHERBURNE – The Norwich Theater Company and Sherburne Music Theater Society have joined forces to put on The Music Man, hitting the stage for three consecutive days this weekend.

The curtain will go up Aug 21-23, 2015 at the Sherburne-Earlville Central School auditorium. This critically acclaimed Broadway classic is set for 7 p.m., Aug. 21-22 and 2 p.m. on Aug. 23.

Per a release, “The Music Man is a machine of a musical. The score is memorable from the opening moments of the overture all the way through its triumphant ending. The tale of a town of stiff-necked Iowans falling for a flimflam man is well told, with a bright message and a memorable romance. It features many songs that you will remember or be familiar with from watching the 1962 movie version with Robert Preston and Shirley Jones or perhaps the 2003 TV movie with Matthew Broderick and Kristin Chenoweth.”

The Norwich Theater Company is a group dedicated to bringing quality stage entertainment to the Norwich area, and is a supporter of music and the arts.

The Sherburne Music Theater Society is nearing it’s 50th year of existence. This society is dedicated to excellence while also providing an opportunity for local thespians and musicians to utilize their skills. It has provided audiences with numerous performances and it has received statewide recognition.
