NORWICH – Syracuse’s Golden Novak Band, also billed as the Golden Novak Duo and Golden Novak Nanni Trio, has enjoyed a new kind of home since late September and the release of the group’s self-titled debut album … the road.
A 30-day tour of the east coast that saw guitarist/singer/songwriters Brian Golden and Jess Novak performing in Florida, Georgia, Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Nashville, TN was recently followed by a pair of trips north to Vermont and the duo’s first showing in Boston. On Thursday, the trio of Golden, Novak and keyboardist Mark Nanni returns to the Park Place Sports Lounge for a 7 to 10 p.m. performance, followed by a second showing at the Oxford Tavern, 6 to 10 p.m. Friday.
“We’ve been busy,” said Golden. “That’s for sure. The road is great and has been instrumental in the direction the music is going, but it’s always nice to come home and have an opportunity to share what we’re learning from those experiences.”
Since September, Golden and Novak have hit the stage an estimated 80 times in the four months leading up to Thursday’s performance. A musical purveyor of an ever-widening range of genres, the Golden Novak Band in all its forms dabbles in blues, rock, Americana and blue-eyed soul. Said Xombiewoof.blogspot.com in a recent review, “… I was immediately floored by the dynamic range of this duo. There have been many perfect pairs in the past, but the vocal combination of Jess Novak and Brian Golden can only be described as an ultimate unity of spirit in song ... This pair of ‘modern minstrels’ have played and paid their dues, so I truly believe they were destined to work together on this album that is uplifting, bright and uniquely both seriously mature and playfully bouncy.”
The Golden Novak Band is currently available for purchase on both iTunes and Amazon.com, as well as the group’s website, jessrocknovak.com. For more information visit jessrocknovak.com or facebook.com/GoldenNovakBand.
