Local woman’s cake making business finds fame

NEW BERLIN – A local woman has found a way to combine her two passions – baking and New York Giants football – and this unlikely combination is proving to be quite successful.

Kelly Banks Cakes, a New Berlin based cake baking business, has recently reached a newfound fame. Owner, Kelly Banks, has recently been making cakes for quite a few of the New York Giants NFL football team – both current and retired. She has made cakes for football players including Michael Strahan, Odell Beckham Jr., Jason Pierre-Paul, Antrel Rolle, and Larry Donnell. Much of this success can be attributed to Kelly's persistence and outgoing nature – and social media.

“I used to call Kelly 'The Queen of Social Media,'” said Brian Banks, Kelly's husband. “I used to pick on her all the time and ask her why she was always on Twitter.” But then Kelly started to win things – a couple of pairs of brand new headphones, $500 on two different occasions – and that is when the couple realized the advantages of social media.

Kelly's first contact with Michael Strahan was just a random Tweet. Kelly said, “I just Tweeted Strahan out of the blue about another NFL team's ugly jerseys and he replied.” This can be seen as the beginning of the unlikely friendship between the former New York Giant and the couple.
