NORWICH – With a carefully orchestrated plan in place and lots of helping hands on board, the Chenango County court system is making the move to The Eaton Center this week, capping off a highly anticipated and organized endeavor that was set in motion last September.

The summer deadline to relocate the county’s judicial offices from the Chenango County Office Building to the Eaton Center office complex on Eaton Ave. in Norwich postponed court appearances this week. The third floor of the county office building, now almost empty, has signs posted notifying residents of the court offices’ new location.

“We’re in crunch time,” said Chenango County Judge Frank Revoir, Jr. “This has been a well organized move that had to be carried out without interruption to the public, and for the most part, everything has run smoothly.”

Though the move is being overseen by the New York State Office of Court Administration, Revoir and the county court clerks were brought into the planning process early on, he said, giving them a say in the layout of the new offices.

“Everything is falling into place and the contractors at The Eaton Center have been working double time,” he added. “I think we’ll be a great addition to the Eaton Center.”
