NORWICH – The Norwich Girls Basketball Boosters are sponsoring the 5th Annual “First Shot Clinic,” Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Norwich High School gymnasium. The clinic is free and open to all Norwich girls in grades 1-8.

Norwich varsity girls’ basketball coach, Josh Bennett, will oversee the clinic, and members of the varsity and junior varsity teams will assist Bennett in teaching young girls various basketball skills, while also promoting positive relationships between youth and young adults.

The clinic was held at the Norwich YMCA its first four years, but was moved to the high school this year to accommodate changes in the clinic, said boosters president Terry Kuhn. “The YMCA has been a wonderful venue,” Kuhn said. “But we decided to move the site because a scrimmage against Union-Endicott, varsity and JV, will immediately follow the clinic.”

Over 100 girls are anticipated to participate in the clinic with preregistration available this week at any of the Norwich schools or at the Norwich YMCA on Mechanic Street. Girls may also register the day of the event beginning at 9:30 a.m.
