Oxford’s Community Band set to kick-off summer season

OXFORD – The Oxford Community Band is currently seeking interested musicians of various experience levels and will hold its first practice of the summer concert season at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Oxford High School band room.

According to Treasurer Tom Rice, the Oxford Community Band has been established and providing entertainment for community residents for more than 35 years.

Said Rice, “Whether to play for the full summer concert session or for just one performance, everyone is welcome to sit in.”

Thirty musicians on average sit in at each performance - all with varying levels of experience with music.

Rice added, “Even if you haven’t played in years, the only requirement is to enjoy sharing music with friends and neighbors.”
