CHENANGO COUNTY – County officials have announced that during the period of Nov. 1 through April 15, parking will not be allowed along county highways, roadways, shoulders or right of ways between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Any vehicle is violation of the law shall be issued a notice of violation which carries a maximum fine of $250 or fifteen days of incarceration, or both.

In addition, depositing snow or ice upon a county highway or roadway is considered illegal and those hired to plow snow from private driveways are ordered not to push snow across the roadway. Doing so creates a hazard for other motorists and officials are asking residents to be respectful of other drivers.

Those living on county maintained roads are also asked to remove automobiles and garbage cans from the roadside during any period of snowfall, and county residents should make sure their mailboxes are secure and away from snow banks. The highway department is not responsible for the repair or replacement of damaged mailboxes. For more information contact the Chenango County Department of Public Works at 337-1710.
