Murray, Jeffrey Place 2nd And 3rd For Norwich

Marathon Invitational

MARATHON – In the unseeded race at the Marathon Invitational Saturday, Norwich juniors Matt Murray and Robert Jeffrey were near the top of the 142-runner field placing second and third respectively to pace the Tornado harriers to a sixth-place finish out of 18 scoring teams.

Murray and Jeffrey, who have flip-flopped as the top Norwich runner on a meet-to-meet basis, timed 17:53 ad 17:57. Nuri Harper was 43rd for NHS clocking in at 19:23. "Matt and Robert have had great seasons for us, and Saturday they worked together as a team," said Norwich coach Shaun Horan.

NHS's girls wound up eighth out of 12 teams with Martha Clemens 24th out of 89 finishers with a time of 22:38, and Sydney Chaffee taking 38th in 24:05.

Martha Clemens (24), 22:38; Sydney Chaffee (38), 24:05; Kristen Slate (42), 24:31; Abby Snow (59), 26:10; Corinne Shea (75), 27:58.

Center State Conference League Championships

ORISKANY – At the Center State Conference meet Saturday in Oriskany, S-E sophomore Ian Benedict placed 28th out of 104 runners, and was named a Center State Conference all-star based on his top-30 finish.
