GIRLS’ SOCCER

Unadilla Valley 5, Oxford 2

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley answered Oxford’s early offense with a flourish at the end of the first half to prevail in Thursday’s home game.

Oxford’s Gabriella Cozzitorto scored nine minutes into the game for the early lead, then after a Sierra Badger tally for UV, Cozzitorto scored again at the 15-minute mark. “I really didn’t have to say anything at that point,” said UV coach Janelle Ross. “The girls realized what was going on, they started talking to each other, and they pulled it together.”

UV tied the game with 11:44 left in the first half, then added two more goals for good measure. Hunter Lakin made it 2-2, Taylor Davis scored the go-ahead goal, then Lakin added another goal before halftime. Davis scored the lone second-half goal.
