First STAC win for NHS in five seasons

BOYS’ SOCCER

Norwich 4, Chenango Valley 1

NORWICH – Norwich produced its best offensive performance in two seasons, and won its first STAC league game in fIVE campaigns toppling Chenango Valley Monday evening.

Chris Trevisani scored a pair of goals for the Tornado (2-3), who led 2-1 at halftime. “Pretty much everyone is back from last year’s team, and I think the returning people have really turned it up a bunch this season,” said Norwich coach Steve Prime.

Trevisani scored on a nifty give-and-go pass from Dean Weaver for the opening goal, and Weaver connected on an 18-yard direct kick for the one-goal halftime advantage.

Cameron Prime scored on his second throw-in season, again after a deflection in the penalty box. Trevisani beat multiple defenders for the final goal, that one coming with 45 seconds left. “We kept the ball in their end quite a bit, and our offense was just clicking today,” Prime said.

Norwich plays at Johnson City Friday.
