Norwich 4, Chenango Valley 1
NORWICH – Norwich produced its best offensive performance in two seasons, and won its first STAC league game in fIVE campaigns toppling Chenango Valley Monday evening.
Chris Trevisani scored a pair of goals for the Tornado (2-3), who led 2-1 at halftime. “Pretty much everyone is back from last year’s team, and I think the returning people have really turned it up a bunch this season,” said Norwich coach Steve Prime.
Trevisani scored on a nifty give-and-go pass from Dean Weaver for the opening goal, and Weaver connected on an 18-yard direct kick for the one-goal halftime advantage.
Cameron Prime scored on his second throw-in season, again after a deflection in the penalty box. Trevisani beat multiple defenders for the final goal, that one coming with 45 seconds left. “We kept the ball in their end quite a bit, and our offense was just clicking today,” Prime said.
Norwich plays at Johnson City Friday.

UV wins Downsville tourney
DOWNSVILLE – Following a hard-fought win on Friday over host Downsville, Unadilla Valley topped Walton in the Downsville Tournament championship game, 3-1, Saturday afternoon.
All of the game’s goals were scored in an abbreviated second half. Nate Mackey broke the scoreless tie tucking in a rebound after teammate Collin Izard’s shot 1:30 into the second period. Izard assisted on Sean Smith’s goal, and following a Walton goal, Izard provided a two-goal cushion.
The game was halted with 12 minutes remaining due to thunder showers. “I knew we had to score, and score quick,” said UV coach Ryan Houck. “I knew there was no way we were getting through the full 40 minutes of the second half.”
