Primary Coming Up Sept. 13; Last Day To Register Aug. 17

CHENANGO COUNTY – On Thursday, Sept. 13 there will be a countywide primary for all enrolled Republican, Conservative and Independence party voters in the election of Chenango County Court Judge.

In addition there will be a Republican only primary for the following offices:

• 51st Senate District which includes the Towns of Columbus, Lincklaen, New Berlin, North Norwich, Otselic, Pharsalia, Pitcher, Plymouth, Sherburne and Smyrna.

• City of Norwich Ward 6 - Alderman to fill a 1 year vacancy

• Town of Bainbridge - Council to fill a 3 year vacancy

• Town of Guilford – 2 County Committee positions

• Town of Norwich - Council to fill a 1 year vacancy

• Town of Smyrna - Supervisor to fill a 1 year vacancy

Any enrolled Democrat in the following towns and all six wards in the City of Norwich will also be eligible to vote on Thursday, September 13 for the following office:

• 52nd Senate District, which includes the Towns of Afton, Bainbridge, Coventry, German, Greene, Guilford, McDonough, Norwich, City of Norwich, Oxford, Preston and Smithville.

The last day to apply for registration and enrollment for the Sept. 13 Primary Election is Friday, Aug. 17. Anyone who is currently registered and has moved within the county since the last election should contact the Chenango County Board of Elections for a change of address.

The public may register at the Board of Elections, Chenango County Office Building, 5 Court St., Norwich in person or by calling 337-1760 or 337-1762 for a mail registration form. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., including lunch hour, Monday through Friday.

Anyone physically disabled, or persons who will not be in Chenango County between the Primary voting hours of noon through 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13 are eligible to vote by applying for an absentee ballot.
