Rory Block opens the spring Arts Café Series

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House starts its Spring Series with “One of America’s foremost Country Blues torchbearers; [Rory Block is] a breathtaking slash-’n’-burn guitarist and a supremely soulful, sexy vocalist.” She’s also a five-time Blues Music Award winner – promising a real treat in the very intimate Arts Café setting on Saturday, March 24th at 8pm.

Block’s reviews are outstanding; The New York Times writes: “Her playing is perfect, her singing otherworldly as she wrestles with ghosts, shadows and legends.” Her guitar work has garnered this praise from Guitar Extra: “Rory Block has become one of the world’s most important preservers of the roots of American music. She has become a national treasure...”

As a blues player, she delivers according to Blues Revue: “... ‘Confessions of a Blues Singer’ provides a heavy dose of the real, raw Delta blues... stark and naked in its intensity... an acoustic tour de force... This album proves that Rory Block is one of the greatest living acoustic blues artists and that she can hold her own with the legends who inspired her.”
