3rd annual Hymn Sing – A Celebration of Love – open to all

NORWICH – With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the Emmanuel Episcopal Church is set to host its 3rd annual, non-denominational Hymn Sing – A Celebration of Love – at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Episcopal Church, 37 West Main St.

The Hymn Sing is open to the entire community, according to church organist and choir director Carolyn McMaster, who stressed the event is less about church and more about bringing people of all denominations together.

“Even if you don’t go to church regularly, that’s fine,” said McMaster. “This is really about enjoying the hymns and we’re welcoming people of all faiths.”

This year’s Hymn Sing will be led by United Church of Oxford Reverend Alan Lang, whose personality McMaster described as “dynamic and engaging.” And as in years past, the event will feature a special, ecumenical performance – including all faiths – led by Hamilton-based Jubilation! Women’s Vocal Ensemble Director Jeanne Smith. Those wishing to join the ecumenical choir are welcome to and a preliminary rehearsal will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, said McMaster.
