Afton spoils Oxford's senior night

Afton 3, Oxford 0

OXFORD – Afton won two games in a season for the first time in the program’s short history, and spoiled Oxford’s senior recognition night with a shutout victory Wednesday night.

The Crimson Knights, who beat Sidney last week, scored three goals in the second half, the first tally an “own goal,” and the last two by Ricky Parsons and Joe Shearer coming less than a minute apart.

“Afton was obviously the more confident and prepared team tonight,” said Oxford coach Jim Champlin. “As big a disappointment as it was for our kids on senior night, I’m sure this was was a great boost for Afton’s program.”
