Dr. Seuss Family Fun Night tomorrow at Stanford Gibson Elementary

NORWICH – For over five decades, the works of Theodor Seuss Geisel – better known as the illustrious Dr. Seuss – have thrilled the imaginations of young readers. In celebration of his March 2 birthday, children of all ages will have an opportunity to experience the magic of the renowned children’s author firsthand, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, as Stanford Gibson Elementary School hosts its popular Dr. Seuss Family Fun Night.

Featuring a number of activities based on a variety of Dr. Seuss’ most popular children’s books and characters – including the Cat in the Hat, Mr. Brown (who can moo), Horton the Elephant and Things One and Two – the event promises to please, with those characters as narrators, according to Stanford Gibson Elementary Reading Specialist Betsy Campbell.

“We have a number of activities designed and based on a variety of favorite Dr. Seuss book titles. Because the evening is based on his books, literature and reading are, of course, a focus of the evening,” stated Campbell. “But the books have been taken to incorporate many disciplines – music, art, physical activity, math and technology.”
