GREENE – Organizers of Greene’s Holiday Weekend have released a revised schedule of events for the celebration, which takes place this Friday and Saturday in downtown Greene.

According to Grace Benkovitz, Executive Director of the Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce, the weekend’s festivities will commence at 6 p.m. on Friday when community members and their families gather at the Memorial Park Lawn. From there, the carolers will stroll along Genesee Street, singing traditional Christmas carols. This will be followed by the annual tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. and the announcement of the bike raffle winners at 6:45.

Benkovitz reminded that qualifying purchases for the bike raffle must be made - and appropriately marked receipts deposited in collection boxes at The Village Variety, McKinney Real Estate or Thomas Real Estate - before 3 p.m. on Friday. Winners must be present in order to claim their prize at the drawing.

The night’s events will conclude with a community choral celebration at Zion Episcopal Church at 7:15, featuring performances by Greene area choirs.

Saturday’s events will begin with Breakfast with Santa from 8 to 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church. From there, Santa will visit the Moore Memorial Library, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Horse and wagon rides will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., departing from the library.
