Norwich falls to SV, Vikings win 10th game

Boys’ Soccer

Susquehanna Valley 6, Norwich 0

CONKLIN – Susquehanna Valley scored three goals in the first six minutes of the game to quickly take command of its Friday night home game with Norwich.

Ryan Caroway, Austin Lash, and Michael Rood all had one goal and one assist for the Sabers, who beat Norwich earlier this season, 9-0. “They scored early and often. They’re just a very good, very quick, skillful team,” said Norwich coach John McCumiskey of the Sabers. “We played a better second half, but we need to do that for both halves.”

Norwich hosts Johnson City on Wednesday.

Summary

(5-0 at half)

Goals-assists: (SV) Ryan Caroway 1-1, Austin Lash 1-1, Michael Rood 1-1, Justin Caroway 1-1, Nick Blakeslee 0-2, Josh Swanger 1-0, Tim Perry, 0-1; Jimmy Smith 1-0.

Saves: (N) Nate Perry, 15; Lucas Follett, 1; (SV) Aaron Cornish, 2.

Shots-corners: (N) 5-2: (SV) 22-8.

Otselic Valley 5, Brookfield 1

SOUTH OTSELIC – Otselic Valley reached the 10-win total on Friday night racing to a 4-1 lead over Brookfield in the first half.

“It wasn’t a great game from our point of view,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “We were just a little ragged and rough around the edges, and I hope we can work out the kinks. Brookfield played hard and made a game of it.”

Jason Olin led the Vikings’ offense with hat trick, and Dusty Davis had the Vikings’ other two goals. Dylan Comfort picked up eight saves for OV, whose record is now 10-2 overall.

“It was a closer game than the score indicates, and they probably had the ball more of the time,” Loomis said. “We were just able to put the ball in the net when we had the opportunities.”

Summary

(4-1 at half)

Goals-assists (OV) Jason Olin, 3-1; Dusty Davis, 2-0, Brent Rasmussen, 0-2, Jef Pittsley, 0-1; (B) Jake Gristwood, 1-0.

Shots-corners: (OV) 19-4, (B) 9-4.

Saves: (OV) Dylan Comfort, 8, (B) Chris Jensen, 11.
