NORWICH – Chenango County’s Real Property Tax Director Steve Harris said he’s not used to seeing so may correction of error reports as those recently distributed by the tax department.

A total of 34 errors representing $10,400 were discovered. Tax bills for 2009 went out at the beginning of January and property owners had until Monday, Feb. 2 to pay them. Local assessors were notified of the corrections well in advance of the deadline, said Harris.

Most corrections were the result of missed aged, veterans and agricultural exemptions and transition values on the wrong parcel.
