No arrest, but police say they are making progress in murder probe

NORWICH – The New York State Police are continuing their investigation into the death of a 61-year-old Town of Norwich man last week.

New York State Police Captain Mark A. Lester said investigators have expanded their operations and that the probe is gaining momentum. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.

“It’s progressing in a positive way. We have a good direction in the case,” said Lester.

William E. Lee, 61, was found dead inside his home at about 1:53 p.m. Thursday at 5220 on State Rt. 23 in the Town of Norwich. An autopsy report showed Lee had been killed by a gun shot wound to the head. Police believe the death occurred a few days before the discovery of the body, and that Lee was murdered.
