Keator, Williams give NHS sectional titles

OWEGO – Savanna Keator broke her own school records in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle to capture a pair of Section IV, Class B titles, and teammate Makenzie Williams gave Norwich a third sectional title Saturday at Owego.

Keator lowered her own marks timing a 53.14 in the 100, and then dropping nearly 1 1/2 seconds to win the 200 free in 1:57.73. The school records lasted all of three days. “It was a very good day,” said Norwich coach Amanda Downey, who said Keator earned state meet bids in both events. “It’s exciting, and we’re looking forward to seeing if we can take it even further.”

Williams, the number one seed in the 100-yard breaststroke, lowered her previous low time finishing in 1:11.07. Williams was just .07 seconds off of a state qualifying time.
