Greene 3, Walton 1

GREENE – Megan McDermott had a hat trick for Greene, and her two-goal burst early in the second half set the tone for the team’s eighth win this season.

McDermott connected on a penalty kick at the 27-minute mark of the first half giving her club the early lead. She tallied off an assist from Chelsea Pornbeck at 29:48 of the second, then the Trojans stole the ensuing kickoff with McDermott completing her trio of goals just 23 seconds later.

Emily Pierce made seven saves for Greene, and she helped preserve a two-goal lead stopping a pair of one-on-one breakaways. “Emily deserves a lot of credit – she played great,” said Greene coach Randy Smith.
