OXFORD – After dropping its first two games this season, Oxford won for the fourth time in five games, and moved over the .500 mark for the first time.

Vanessa Pierson had first-half goals at 16:46 and 11:21 to give her a team-high six tallies on the season. Chantel Crandall added an insurance goal for the Blackhawks in the second half.

“We finally jelled as a team,” said Oxford coach Missy Chrystie. “The things we’ve been working on in practice paid off in a game situation.”

Oxford (4-3) plays Sidney Saturday at 11 a.m.

SHERBURNE – The Marauders continued their improved play with a decisive win over league rival New York Mills Thursday.

Samantha Crandall tallied to open the scoring with 11 minutes left in the first half, and Courtney Kurtz added two goals in the last five minutes of the half to create a three-goal advantage. “Everything (the offense) came from the midfield today,” said S-E coach Sheila Cooman. “That is what we’ve been working on. We made good decisions with the ball and good decisions everywhere. This was our best game so far.”

Karli Harris scored in the second half for the Marauders (1-1, 3-2), who play Canastota Monday.
