Susquehanna Valley 1, Greene 0

CONKLIN – Eighth-grader Mary Rood found Kara Gorgos with a through pass for the only goal of the game at the 29-minute mark of the first half in the Sabers’ shutout over Greene Monday.

“It was a player where we simply gave them too much room and didn’t contest the pass,” said Greene coach Randy Smith of the goal. “We didn’t play that well against a team that is pretty good. This was a good warm-up for us.”

Greene hosts Walton Wednesday.

NORWICH – Owego pulled away with a goal late in the first half to grab a 2-0 advantage and deal the Tornado a shutout loss Monday.

Janelle Robison had two goals for Owego including a header off a cross from sister Jill Robison that padded the edge in the second half.

“We just kind of let up for a moment and let one in late in the first half,” said Norwich coach Scottie Decker. “I felt our kids did a better job talking to each other on the field and moving to the ball better. We had some great games today from Chelsea Leibundgut, Alicia Eddy, and Emily Tackabury.”

Norwich is at Johnson City Friday.
