NYRI

New York Regional Interconnect (NYRI) is a privately held conglomerate proposing to build a 200 mile, 400,000 volt electrical tranmission line cutting through the heart of Central New York. The lines are widely considered to be private interest and NYRI has admitted that they will raise electric rates in Upstate NY.

Superior Ambulance

Superior Ambulance, Chenango County's only private ambulance service announced in September that it is ending its last remaining on-call ambulance service on Oct 25th. The news came after initial cutbacks by the company in January 2007 due to lack of profitability.

Peter Wlasiuk Retrial

Peter Wlasiuk was convicted in Chenango County Court in 2002 for the murder of his wife, Patricia. His conviction was overturned August 31, 2006 by State of New York Supreme Court Appellate Division, entitling him to a new trial.

Daniel Brown Trial

Daniel Brown Sr. was arrested on March 29, 2007 and charged with murder in the death of Tammy L. Periard. He has since pleaded not guilty and is currently awaiting trial in Chenango County Court.
