UV And Norwich Still Unbeaten In Otsenango Pony League; Scheduled To Meet On Thursday

CHENANGO COUNTY – Trailing 4-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Unadilla Valley’s Timmy Postma doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Dalton Proskine and Cameron Osborne to take a 6-4 lead and the road victory over Greene on Tuesday. With the win, UV’s record stays perfect.

UV held a 2-1 lead midway through the sixth. In the bottom half of the frame, Greene tacked on three more runs when Hunter Poland singled on a hard ground ball to left field, scoring his teammate Kolby Finch.

Two batters later, Tyler Brown and Poland were on the bases with Jake Finnerly up to bat. With a passed ball getting by the UV catcher on Finnerly’s third strike of the at-bat, Brown and Poland were able to reach the plate while Finnerly stood on first and his team captured a 4-3 lead.

In the first inning, Greene got on the board as Finch drover in Liam Flanagan on fly ball to center field.

Answering an inning later was Unadilla Valley’s Colin Grant scoring on a passed ball, tying the game at 1-1. The visiting team added another run in the top of the third when Osborne scored from third on a Gavin Bonczkowski single to the shortstop.

Grant started on the hill for, lasting five and a third innings. His time of the mound allowed just two runs on one hit and striking out seven.
