Big fourth quarter by the Storm ends Senecas’ season; Jackson sets school’s single-game scoring record

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley’s Andrew Jackson posted 40 points in the first round 72-52 win over Watkins Glen in the Section IV Class C boys basketball tournament Tuesday night. His point total was a new career-best for the Storm guard as well as single-game school record.

Jackson scored 16 of his 40 in the fourth as Unadilla Valley tallied 22 points to turn a six point lead into a 20-point win. In the same quarter, UV held the Senecas to just eight points.

Unadilla Valley jumped out to an early first quarter lead behind Levi Rifanburg’s and Jackson combined total of 12 points.

The Storm only took a small four point lead into the halftime break as Watkins Glen closed the the first quarter gap with 18 points in second.

The third quarter was nearly even with the 19-17 advantage going to Unadilla Valley, giving the home team the six point lead into the fourth.
