GREENE – The Greene Trojan boys soccer club is quite good in 2017 – and after defeating Bainbridge-Guilford and Harpursville-Afton this past weekend, they now prepare for the upcoming MAC Championships.

• On Friday, October 6, Bainbridge-Guilford traveled to Greene for an end of the week showdown – resulting in a 4-1 Trojan win.

At the half, Greene led B-G at just 2-1. A respectable mark for a scrappy Bobcat team.

The difference in the game came by way of Greene forcing 13 shots on goal and nine corners, while Bainbridge-Guilford was limited to just one shot and two corners.

Greene outscored B-G at 2-0 in the second half and the score was kept close due in a big way to B-G’s stellar goalkeeper, Xavier Cherniak. Cherniak recorded nine saves in the 4-1 road loss for B-G.

Parker Luca was B-G’s lone goal scorer in the game, coming in the first half of play. While Greene saw four different players score in the win: Spencer Klumpp (one goal), River McCumiskey (one goal), Bradley Taft (one goal), and Danny Kovalev (one goal).

Greene’s Kevin Gyurik made no saves as the Bobcats lone goal kick went for their only score.

Next up for Bainbridge-Guilford boys soccer, they will play in the MAC league tournament this coming week.
