Golden Knights Defeat Norwich In The Water

NORWICH – The Norwich swimming and diving team hosted Holland-Patent on Tuesday, Jan. 31, in what proved to be yet another individual victory with a team loss.

Despite falling to HP by a decent margin – as the Golden Knights took home eight of the potential 12 first place finishes – Norwich was able to scrape out two personal best marks and four first place finishes.

• 200 medley relay: Taking first was HP with a time of 2:05.18, while Norwich – Aidan Sullivan, Griffin Frank, Matt Giglio, Jacob Shoemaker – trailed in second with a time of 2:09.52.

• 200 freestyle: Another first for HP came from B. Tolpa with a time of 2:13.19, while Norwich resorted to a third place mark from Ayden Hagar with his time of 2:39.63.

• 200 independent medley: Saw HP's C. Celecki take home the gold with a time of 2:17.81 – Norwich had no entries in the event.

• 50 freestyle: HP's Y. Baeumken claimed the top spot when he raced to a time of 25.15. Norwich's best on the night came from Aidan Sullivan who took third with a 27.92; followed by Jacob Shoemaker in fifth at 28.63, and Dakota Spina in sixth at 32.31.
